A Very Lonely Child

My first poem of 2009 is about the painting I worked on yesterday.

A Very Lonely Child

A mechanical mind,
in a turquoise night.
Feel the cold black light
in the heart of an atom.

The ceramic dense child
in the hydrogen heart
is a planet too far
from his parents and star.

Flicker shudder and blink
in the ice of this ink.
We stare inward and die.
Calculate but not think.
